Rockhurst forfeits first round playoff game to Joplin after positive COVID-19 test

The Eagles advance to the district semifinals, where they will face the winner of Ray-Pec and Lee's Summit.

JOPLIN, Mo – Friday night’s Class 6 District 3 playoff opener between Rockhurst and Joplin has been canceled.

Rockhurst is unable to play Friday night after a positive COVID-19 test on the team. Because Rockhurst has to forfeit, Joplin advances to the district semifinals, where they will face the winner of Ray-Pec and Lee’s Summit next Friday.

JOPLIN, MO, October 30, 2020 — Due to reasons related to COVID-19 Rockhurst High School will be unable to play as scheduled in the first round of the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) Class 6 District 3 playoffs on Friday, October 30th.

Joplin Schools has been notified by MSHSAA that this game would be recorded as a forfeit, with Joplin High School advancing to the next round of the playoffs. We regret that the Rockhurst student-athletes will not be able to compete in the opening district round.

Joplin High School will now play the winner of the Raymore-Peculiar/Lee’s Summit contest in the district semifinals on Friday, November 6th. The location has yet to be determined. More information will be released as it becomes available.
