Roberta M. Koehn

Roberta M. Koehn, 92, of Parsons, passed away at 4:00 a.m., Friday, June 24, 2022, at Woodridge Estates in Parsons.
She was born on March 22, 1930, on the family farm near Chester, Oklahoma to Steven Brown S.B. “Red’ and Vera Augusta (Crook) Shuck. She grew up on the family farm. Roberta attended Richmond schools and graduated from Richmond High School in 1947.
Roberta and Russell Horner were married on June 15, 1947, at the Elm Grove Church near Chester. He preceded her in death in 1982. She later married Melvin Koehn and he preceded her in death in 2011.
She lived in various places over the years while her husband, Russell, served in the United States Army. Following his honorable discharge, they moved to Yukon, Oklahoma. Roberta then moved to Parsons in 2009.
Roberta worked as a seamstress over the years and owned and operated her own clothing alteration business.
She was an avid volunteer and volunteered at the senior centers in Yukon and Parsons, at RSVP in Yukon, and served her churches. Roberta received an award from President Bush for making many servicemen over 100 flag pillows during the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. She was a member of the Elm Grove Church in Chester, Town and Country Christian Church in Yukon, and the Foursquare Church in Parsons. She was also a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the NCO Wives Club.
Roberta is survived by her daughter, Sheryl McCarty, and her husband, Jim of rural Mound Valley; her grandchildren, Kristina McCarty of Parsons, James McCarty, and his wife, Bethany of Parsons, and Justin McCarty, and his wife, Micheala of Blair, NE; six great-grandchildren, Zachary McCarty, Russell McCarty, Brock McCarty, Cole McCarty, Logan McCarty, Wyatt McCarty; three brothers, Charles Shuck of Oklahoma City, Jerry Shuck, of Oklahoma City, and Jim Shuck of Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to Russell and Melvin, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Bob Shuck, George Shuck, and Roger Shuck; and her sister, Ella Bea Magee.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at the Parsons Foursquare Church with Pastor David Keaton and Reverend James Schnackenberg officiating. Committal services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, July 1, 2022, at the Elm Grove Cemetery near Chester, Oklahoma with Pastor Jarrod Cloud officiating. Friends may come to the Carson-Wall Funeral Home at their convenience to sign the register and view.
