Robert K. Allen

July 28, 1922 - September 11, 2021

Robert K. Allen, 99, of Parsons, passed away at 5:45 a.m., Saturday, September 11, 2021 at the Elmhaven Nursing Home in Parsons.

Robert Kenneth Allen was born July 28, 1922 in Neodesha, Kansas to Harvey and Viva (Lawson) Allen.  At the age of seven, Robert moved with his family to El Dorado, Kansas where he graduated from high school and junior college.

Robert served his country in the Army Air Corps during World War II.  Following the war, he attended and graduated from the Wichita State University in 1949 under the GI Bill.  Robert served in the reserves following the war and was called up to duty for the Korean Conflict.  His military career took him many places around the world, including Australia, Europe, Korea and Japan.  He also had several stateside assignments including duty at the Pentagon during the Vietnam War.  He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel from the United States Air Force in 1973 after 30 years of service. After retirement from the military, he spent twenty years with Mercy Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio serving as a Vice-President overseeing the construction of a new hospital.

Robert was united in marriage to Madonna Ann Datin on November 28, 1946 in El Dorado, Kansas.  Robert and Madonna retired to Sun City, Arizona in 1994 where they lived until her death in 2017.  They had celebrated 70 years of marriage before her death.  Following Madonna’s death, Robert moved to Parsons, Kansas to be near his family.

Robert is survived by:

Daughter:  Bobbie (Charles) Wiltse – Parsons, Kansas

Five Grandchildren:  Chris (Jeannine) Wiltse, Jonathan (Jennifer) Wiltse, Mary Klaas, John (Natalie) Klaas and Michael (Angie) Klaas

In addition to his wife, Madonna, Robert was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Klaas , son-in-law, Donald Klaas and grandson, Joseph Klaas.

The Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home of Parsons is in charge of arrangements.  No service is planned.
