Richard Earl Person

Richard Earl Pearson, age 74, of Lawrenceburg, Indiana, passed away shortly after 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 31, 2021, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. He was born July 31, 1946, in Aurora, Missouri, the son of Edward C. (Jake) and Alice Person Brechbuhler.
Richard graduated from Marionville High School and later studied at Westark Community College in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. Richard had a successful career at Wal-Mart, where he worked for over 23 years and retired as a District Manager. In his years after Wal-Mart, he owned fly fishing and backpacking equipment stores in Springfield and Branson, Missouri, served as a general manager for Freemont Hills Country Club and Roaring River State Park. He was also known for his artistry and woodcarving. He won best of show in multiple art festivals around Southwest Missouri and was a featured artisan at Silver Dollar City. He also loved to hunt, collect, and sell antiques with his wife.
On February 3, 1967, he married Norma Sue Wilkes. They were married for almost 54 years.
Richard is survived by his wife, Norma Pearson of Hidden Valley Lake, Indiana; his son, Chad Person and his wife, Erica, of Hidden Valley Lake, Indiana; one brother, John Paul Brechbuhler of Kansas City; four grandchildren, Abby, Oliva, Mason, and Cora Person, and several nieces and nephews.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Edward, and Alice Person Brechbuhler, son, Richard Person, brother, Tim Person and sister, Cathy Lane.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 6, 2021, at the Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home in Aurora, Missouri.
