Red flag warnings go into effect Tuesday afternoon

Wind, mild & dry air are the main culprits

Even though our Tuesday will be mild with highs in the 60s under mostly sunny skies, that’s one culprit leading to poor burning conditions for our Tuesday afternoon. Much of the area will see red flag warnings go into effect for Tuesday afternoon with the expiration time as late as 7 PM Tuesday evening. In addition to temperatures climbing into the middle (even upper) 60s for the afternoon, the relative humidity will be quite low between 25% and 35%. Combine all of that with a south wind during the afternoon sustained between 10 and 25 mph (gusts at times higher than that), it’ll be best to hold off on any outdoor burning until better moisture can come in with our next storm system on Wednesday.
