Quapaw’s Tanner Daniels to play in Blue-Grey All-American Bowl in Texas
Daniels will play at the home of the Cowboys
QUAPAW, Okla. — Quapaw High School senior Tanner Daniels will get the opportunity to play at the home of the Dallas Cowboys in January.
Daniels has accepted an invitation to play in the Blue-Grey All-American Bowl on January 20th at AT&T Stadium, the home of the Cowboys.
To earn his invitation, Daniels had to perform at two scouting combines, one in Tennessee and one in Texas.
“When I went down to Tennessee, it was nerve-wracking,” Daniels says, “You’re going against some of the best kids in the nation. It’s not easy.”
Daniels, who plays defensive end and is listed at 6-2, 245, is coming off a fantastic junior season. Last year he led the Wildcats with 79 tackles in 10 games.
“He’s just a tremendous kid,” says Quapaw head coach Chris Cawyer, “We need more young men like Tanner in this world. He’s in the weight room every day. I run him out every day. He’s just a great young man.”
“It feels good…especially coming from the school I come from and the town I come from,” Daniels adds, “You have other guys that are from bigger schools who have always had the support and the program there to get them where they’re at. Having the whole support system of (Quapaw) and communities outside of our town, it’s a great feeling. It makes me feel like I’ve accomplished something great.”
Daniels is entering his final year with the Quapaw High School football program. Although his time at Quapaw will be over by the time he heads to Arlington, Daniels says he hopes to make the town proud.
“I want to go play college football and I want to be able to be something our town can be proud of,” he says, “I want to be able to be part of that foundation that people say ‘hey this is something that we’re proud of in Quapaw, Oklahoma.'”
