PSU receives unclaimed propery check from the state

PITTSBURG, Kan. – Kansas Treasurer Lynn Rogers was in Pittsburg Wednesday to return some unclaimed property to PSU $1,800.

That might not be a lot to a university, but to 33 million Americans who have unclaimed property it could mean a lot more. Rogers describes unclaimed property as financial accounts or items of value in which the owner has not initiated any activity for several years.

You can check whether you have unclaimed property online.

“You can plug in your name and your city and check it out and see if there is any money that is available to you,” said Rogers. “We also encourage people to check any city that they have lived in, and they might check under different names, (like a) maiden name or if their name is often misspelled, check it under that way as well.”

Kansas currently has more than 400 million dollars in assets to return. You can check to see if you have any unclaimed property at the following link: kansascash.ks.gov/up_main.html
