PSU men pick up a third-straight win against UCM

RELEASE FROM PITTSBURG STATE ATHLETICS:

PITTSBURG — Donovan Franklin and Grant Lozoya combined for 48 points to lead the Pittsburg State University men’s basketball team to a 78-69 victory against the University of Central Missouri Saturday (Jan. 12) at John Lance Arena.

The Gorillas (12-3, 5-1 MIAA) battled back from a nine-point first-half deficit to down the Mules (9-6, 2-4 MIAA).

Franklin led all scorers with 25 points. He made six of 10 shots from the floor, including three of five 3-point attempts, and 10 of 11 free throw attempts. The Gorillas made 20 of 23 free throws as a team in the contest.

Lozoya added 23 points and a game-high 10 rebounds for his second double-double of the season. He also dished out five assists.

Demetrius Levarity added 13 points, including 10 in the first half.

UCM got 19 points from Jakob Lowrance, 15 from Jafar Kinsey and 13 from Daniel Farris. The Mules shot just 38.6 percent from the field, making 22 of 57 shots overall.
