Pro-life supporters host 2020 Memorial Rally for Life

Leading up to the 47th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, which legalized abortion across the U.S., a pro-life group in Lamar, Missouri meets with state officials to bring awareness to abortion numbers.

While the abortion rate is falling in Missouri, officials shared that approximately 4,000 abortions took place in 2017.

Speakers including former Miss Missouri Lori (Suschnick) Bartlett, Sen. Ed Emery and Rep. Ann Kelley all spoke in favor of pro-life legislation.

Following a prayer, the Barton County Right to Life chapter emphasized the importance of alternatives to abortion.

“We’re looking at the legislature and what they’re proposing. It’s because of activities like ours, and not just ours in Barton County, but around the nation, around Missouri, that we have been able to get a number of laws enacted to reduce the number of abortions,” said Dave Spiering with Barton County Right to Life.

The group also collected baby items and cash donations for Life Choices, a sister organization to Missouri Right to Life.
