Prince highlights four Lions named to All-MIAA Team

Taevaunn Prince , the reigning MIAA Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, was one of four Lions honored by the MIAA today as the League released its postseason awards.
Prince is a second-team selection in his first full season as a Lion. This year, he leads the team in points per game with 16.2 and rebounds with 7.1. Prince currently ranks sixth in the MIAA in scoring and fourth in the league in rebounds. He’s had eight double-double’s on the season and he ranks 15th nationally in free throws made and 28th in free throws attempted, while leading the MIAA in both those categories and ranking fifth in the league in free throw percentage.
Cameron Cornelius and Lane Barlow are both honorable mention selections this year. Barlow is second on the Lions with 11.6 points per game, and leads the Lions with 3.4 assists per game, ranking seventh in the MIAA in that category. Cornelius is third on the team in scoring with 11.2 points per game and ranks third on the team with 4.3 rebounds per contest.
Greg Renfroe was named to the MIAA’s All-Defensive Team. Renfroe leads the MIAA in blocks per game this season with 1.9 per contest. His 54 blocks this season rank fourth all-time in a single-season in MSSU history. He is just nine away from tying the single-season mark.
Nebraska-Kearney’s Connor Beranek was the MIAA Player of the Year, while Northwest Missouri’s Matt Wallace was the Defensive Player of the Year. Northwest’s Justin Pitts was the League’s Freshman of the Year, while Pittsburg State’s Kevin Muff and Northwest Missouri’s Ben McCollum were named Co-Coaches of the Year.
The Lions will be back in action on Thursday evening, playing at 8:15 in the quarterfinals of the MIAA Tournament inside Municipal Auditorium.
