UPDATE: Police investigate shooting south of Carl Junction

One person hospitalized with a gunshot wound


CARL JUNCTION, Mo – At approximately 8:46 P.M. on July 1st, 2020, Jasper County Deputies responded to a 911 call for an assault and a shooting at 6175 CL 278 in Carl Junction.

According to Sheriff Randee Kaiser, Police were told there was a physical altercation between two adult women; During the assault, the husbands of the women began to argue.

The male homeowner told the second man to leave the home.

The second man did not leave, leading to shots being fired from a handgun, hitting the second man several times.

The second man, a 44-year-old from Miami, Oklahoma, was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

There have been no arrests as of this time.

The investigation is still ongoing.

According to Jasper County authorities, it happened just after 8:30 p.m. Wednesday night on County Lane 278. Police say an altercation ended with one person shot.

No word yet on the condition of the gunshot victim, or if police have made any arrests. The Jasper County Sheriff’s office is investigating.
