Planning to improve 7th Street in Joplin begins July 11th

JOPLIN, Mo. – The City of Joplin announced its plan to conduct an archeological survey along 7th street beginning Monday, July 11.

Officials say they are partnering with MoDOT to rebuild 7th Street in the coming years. The survey will help city planners identify unique or historic structures and prevent restorations from impacting these structures.

As consultants take photographs to begin the planning process beginning July 11-15, officials ask drivers to be cautious of those working.

The city says the improvements are tentatively scheduled for 2024 and 2025 at an estimated cost of $27.6 million.
