Pittsburg wins home opener vs. Fort Scott

The Pittsburg Purple Dragons needed extra innings, but they eventually won their home opener 7-6 over Fort Scott.

It was a back and forth game all night long.

The game was tied at 4 in the 7th inning, before the Tigers scored two to take a 6-4 lead to the bottom half. Pittsburg responded with two in the bottom of the 7th to send it to extra innings.

With runners on the corners in the 9th inning, Zach Sutton hit a grounder to short. Fort Scott could have rolled up a double-play to end the inning, but Sutton beat the throw to first, allowing Ben Boekhout to score the game-winning run.

The Dragons are now 2-0 this season and will be back on the field on Thursday at Chanute.
