Pittsburg State hold annual Activities Fair

Pittsburg State held it’s annual Activities Fair on Tuesday, where campus groups and organizations reached out to students encouraging them to get involved. Students enjoyed music, dancing, games and free food while learning about the organizations.

“We’re a peer health education group,” says Ali Clark of Gorillas in your Midst. “We do different programs and events on campus to make healthy choices, whether that be with alcohol or sex or bystander behavior. And our theme is ‘Do the Gorilla Thing’ which is on these bracelets and that pretty much means do the right thing.”

“We’re doing street signs for students at PSU,” says Michelle Forbes of the PSU Student Activities Council. “It’s part of the fees that come out of the budget we give free activities, events, and stuff like this.”

“I’m involved in several organizations on campus and so I think it’s a really great way for freshman and if you just want to expand your horizons, if you just want to do something new, you can just look around and join a different club,” says Clark.

Pittsburg State is home to more than 170 campus organizations. University officials say getting involved in activities outside of the classroom is an important part of university life.
