Pittsburg preps for game at Kauffman Stadium
The Dragons play St. Thomas Aquinas at the "K
PITTSBURG, Kan. — The Pittsburg Purple Dragons will be playing a road game unlike any other next week.
The Purple Dragons will play St. Thomas Aquinas on April 17th at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri. The game will begin at 4:00 PM.
“This will be my first major league field, but I’m hoping it’s not my last,” says Pittsburg senior Ben Boekhout, who is committed to Division I LIU-Brooklyn, “It’s going to be awesome. Not very many people get to ever stop on a major league field. To play on it is going to be crazy.”
“We’re there to win obviously,” says senior Dylan White, who expected to be the starting pitcher for Pittsburg at Kauffman stadium, “but playing on this big stage, it’s going to be once in a lifetime. Every chance I get I’m going to look around see…everything and just enjoy it.”
“It’s going to be great for our senior class,” says Dragons’ head coach Keith Matlock, :They’ve been so integral to our program. They’ve really helped build our program. It will be a nice reward for them, and just something they’ll be able to cherish.”
Admission to the game is free. The team is selling KC Royals vouchers to offset the cost of the game. The vouchers can be redeemed for any regular season Royals game, excluding St. Louis Cardinals and New York Yankees games.
If you’re interested in purchasing Royals vouchers, contact Pittsburg head coach Keith Matlock at email@example.com.
