Leslie Harris says she spent countless hours on her large fiberglass football, now the art piece will be shipped off for repairs.

Over the weekend Pittsburg Police begin an investigation to find the person or persons who damaged the art work.

24 large footballs can be found throughout Southeast Kansas, each with a unique design, and a cost of $1,000. It’s all part of an event put on by SEK Art Fest.

“A lot of people.. invest into this project and into the community if this thing continues to happen I don’t foresee people willing to continue to be a part of it,” Harris said.

The worst part for Harris is the football was in honor of her 14-month old daughter who passed away due to health issues.

“It was really therapeutic for me to paint this in honor of her you know the sunset represents a new day dawning,” said Harris.

The football was located outside a bar, which is next door to Harris’s grandparents medical store.
