“Pittsburg Dream” claim 4th grade school state championship
The Dream won three games over the weekend to claim the title.
PITTSBURG, Kan. – The Pittsburg Dream has earned a state championship, claiming the 4th grade school state title by winning three games in Wichita over the weekend.
“I’m just so proud of these girls,” says coach Marcus Madison, “They battled through some adversity and never let their emotions get the best of them. They just played the game, and good things happened.”
The Dream began their title run on Friday, beating the Lady Cagers out of Dodge City 15-2. On Saturday they picked up their second win, topping the Larned Lady Indians 14-12, before falling later in the day 20-13 to the Salina Storm.
The team got a second shot at the Storm in the championship game on Sunday.
The Dream needed overtime to finish it off, but they got their revenge against Salina, winning 25-23 in the championship game Sunday afternoon.
“We had big plays from each and every girl in that win,” Madison adds, “That’s what makes it special. I couldn’t be more proud. Go Dream!”
