Pitt State’s Williams named MIAA women’s player of the week
Williams posted two double-doubles last week
PITTSBURG, Kan. — RELEASE FROM PITTSBURG STATE ATHLETICS:
Pittsburg State University junior guard Maya Williams was named the MIAA Co-Player of the Week Monday (Dec. 9) for her efforts in the Gorillas’ conference-opening action last week. Williams posted a pair of double doubles averaging 14.5 points and 15.0 rebounds per game in a pair of MIAA victories over MSSU (Dec. 3) and WU (Dec. 5).
The Carthage, Mo., native scored 11 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in the Gorillas’ 68-49 road win over the Lady Lions. She followed that up with 18 points and a career high 16 rebounds in an 84-63 home win against the Ichabods.
She made 11 of 25 (.440) shots from the floor for the week. Williams also averaged 2.5 assists per game.
She shared the weekly honor with Emporia State’s Tre’Zure Jobe.
