Pitt State’s Hayes named MIAA Hitter of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Pittsburg State University sophomore first baseman Paxtyn Hayes was named the MIAA Hitter of the Week, Monday (May 2).

Hayes helped lead the Gorillas to a 3-1 weekend, splitting against No. 4 UCO, 11-7, 1-11 and a pair of victories over Newman 8-0, 9-4. The Greenwood, Ark. native finished the weekend batting .500 at the plate including three home runs and seven RBIs.

Hayes finished the weekend with seven hits in 14 trips to the plate including a two home run game against No. 4 UCO on Saturday (Apr. 30). Hayes finished the season with a .400 batting average and 12 home runs.
