Two weeks removed from hosting the 2019 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field National Championships, the Pittsburg State University track & field teams will turn their attention toward making their outdoor season debut. The Gorillas will send partial squads to Emporia, Kan., Saturday (Mar. 23) to compete at the Emporia State University Spring Invitational.

Field events begin at Noon (CST) while action on the track at Welch Stadium begins at 1 p.m.

The Pitt State women are coming off a sixth place finish at indoor nationals – the program’s fourth consecutive top six national indoor finish – while the Pitt State men placed in a tie for 28th place nationally.

The Pitt State women have claimed four straight MIAA Outdoor Championships between 2015 and 2018 as well as the last three MIAA Indoor Championships (2017-19). The Pitt State men also captured the 2018 MIAA Outdoor Championship a year ago. The Gorillas have won five MIAA outdoor titles in the last seven years (2012-15, 2018)
