Pitt State preps for finale against MSSU
PSU aims to snap a 5-game losing streak
PITTSBURG, Kan. — This week is the final weekend of the regular season for MIAA football.
The Pittsburg State Gorillas will finish up their schedule, hosting a rivalry matchup with the Missouri Southern Lions.
Southern is 2-8 on the season, while Pittsburg State is 5-5 and has lost five games in a row.
This obviously is not a position the Gorillas planned to be in after winning their first five games, but the season isn’t over yet, and they have one more chance to go out and show what they’re capable of.
“We’ve got competitive coaches and we’ve got competitive players,” head coach Tim Beck says, “They’re very frustrated. We’ve had a week of practice where we wanted to do our best to try to get a win. I think it’s just more of getting into our routine, but maybe a little more sense of urgency because we haven’t had the success lately that we’d liked.”
Saturday’s game will begin at 1:00 PM at Carnie Smith Stadium in Pittsburg.
