Pitt State Men Enjoy Solid Debut in Wendy’s/PSU Invitational

Pittsburg – The Pittsburg State University men’s outdoor track & field team posted six individual event victories in an impressive season debut in the Wendy’s/PSU Invitational Saturday (Mar. 29) at Prentice Gudgen Track.

Bo Farrow posted a pair of field event wins, claiming the meet title in the discus throw with a PQ mark of 163 feet, 6 inches and taking top honors in the shot put with a PQ heave of 54-10.75.

Steven Mann won the long jump with a PQ mark of 23-8, while Marquise Cushon claimed the win in the triple jump with a PQ mark of 48-8.75.

On the track, James Carter III won the 800 meters in 1 minute, 55.87 seconds, while Marquel Nickens won the 400m hurdles in 54.72. The 400m relay team of Andre Sanders, Jason Crow, Kyle Utsey and Bryce Starks also picked up a win with a PQ time of 41.17.

Among other notable performances, Luke Wilson earned a PQ mark with a second-place finish in the hammer throw (178-8), while Cody Holland garnered a PQ mark with a second-place effort in the shot put (53-0). Garrett Cantrell (196-5), Adam Farnow (191-6) and Jordan Morton (189-0) all provisionally qualified to nationals in the javelin throw.

Starks placed second in the 100 meters in 10.79, while Casey Steinmiller finished second in the 400m hurdles (55.12). Andrew Rodgers placed second in the 800 meters (1:57.08) and finished third in the 1,500 meters (4:03.37). The 1,600m relay of Aren Martin, Jeff Piepenbrink, Ryan Ramler and Eric Jackson also placed second in 3:22.07.

Jayce Phelps finished third in the pole vault (15-9.75) and Cushon placed third in the long jump (22-1.5).
