RELEASE FROM PITTSBURG STATE ATHLETICS:

The Fort Hays State University softball team swept a doubleheader from Pittsburg State University Friday (Mar. 1) at Gene Bicknell Sports Complex. The Tigers defeated the Gorillas, 5-4 and 6-0.

Pitt State dropped to 7-8 overall, while Fort Hays State improved to 7-4 overall. .

Makenzie Goswick led the Gorillas in game one, going 2-for-4 with two RBI’s. Dru Collins also chipped in with a triple and one RBI.

In game two, Pitt State was held to just four hits on the game.

Pitt State will return to action next weekend for a pair of doubleheaders against Missouri Southern State University. The Gorillas will start play on Friday (Mar. 7) with a doubleheader against the Lions at 2 p.m. in Joplin, Mo. Followed by another doubleheader on Saturday (Mar. 8) with a start time of 2 p.m. at Gene Bicknell Sports Complex.
