Pitt State bounces back against Blue Tigers

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — The short handed Pittsburg State University women’s basketball team turned to a balanced attack to claim an 84-63 road win against Lincoln University Saturday (Jan. 18) at Jason Gym.

The Gorillas, minus starters Alexa Alvarado and Maya Williams from the lineup, had five players score in double figures as Pitt State pulled away in the second half for the victory.

Meghan Maher scored a season best 17 points on five of six shooting from 3-point range in the contest. Tristan Gegg added 17 points on the strength of a 10-for-10 day at the free throw line, while Ashton McCorry posted career highs of 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Kaylee DaMitz finished with 13 points and Marina Bauza Rubert also scored a career best 12 points for Pitt State (9-7, 5-3 MIAA).

Lincoln (3-13, 0-7 MIAA) got a game high 24 points Kaloni Pryear. Vivian Chigbu added a double double with 13 points and 10 rebounds for the Blue Tigers.
