2020 REVIEW

Last season was a tough one for the Labette County Grizzlies. They finished with just two wins, which came against Coffeyville in week 6 and St. Michael the Archangel in week 7. “The best part of last season was that we actually got to play nine games, when most teams did not,” says head coach Sean Price, “The stress of dealing with COVID and the keeping up on making sure we were being as safe as possible was definitely the biggest challenge. We learned that you should never take anything for granted, because it can be taken away in the blink of an eye.”

2021 SEASON OUTLOOK

A lot of new guys on the field for Labette County this season. They do return a couple 1st team All-SEK selections in OL/DL Mitchell House and DB/FB Andon Searles. “Those two players have been leaders for us for two years,” says head coach Sean Price, “I expect a lot from them in leading our younger players.” This team will have to deal with depth issues, and they’ll have to find some footing on offense. The Grizzlies were only able to manage more than 20 points in just one game last season. “We haven’t been able to pass the ball at all in two years,” Price adds, “That has to be a huge improvement for us in order to score points. We want to battle and win the SEK title. I expect our kids to go out each week and play like that is the goal.”
