2019 was the final year for the Pirates under head coach Kiyoshi Harris. 2020 was supposed to be their first fall season under head coach Jason Martin, but COVID-19 pushed the season back to the spring of 2021. The Pirates ended up with a 5-2 record in the spring in their first action under Martin.

Independence will look to build on what they did in the spring. There’s some talent there, and the games in the spring should only help speed up the process of the team getting used to how Martin runs things. I expect them to be able to play with the best in the KJCCC.
