The team went 3-6 overall, after winning just three games the previous three years combined. “The best part about last season was starting to build a solid foundation that we can continue to build on,” coach Ghering says.

2021 SEASON OUTLOOK

Chetopa is heading into their first season under head coach Josh Ghering. They have some momentum for the first time in a few years. The Hornets have half of their starters back on each side of the ball. “We’re going to be looking for Robert Vannata, Blake Carter and Lawrence Holt to be on-field leaders for us this season,” Ghering says, “They go the extra mile and put in the extra work. They constantly strive to improve both their strengths and weaknesses.” Being able to run the ball will be a big key for the Hornets heading into 2022. Coach Ghering says the team’s goals are to “compete, maintain a love for the game and excel inside the classroom.”
