Paula Hightower, 92, of Verona, MO, was called home to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday morning, December 8, 2019, while at Lacoba Homes in Monett.

Paula was born on May 26, 1927, in Maxwell, OK, daughter of the late Clarence Oliver Willoughby and Bertha (LeForce) Willoughby. Beyond being a wonderful homemaker, loving wife, mother and grandmother, Paula had worked as a Cook for the Clapham Schools in Clapham, NM, thereafter, she moved to Clayton, NM, where she began working for the Clayton School System for over twelve years collectively. After moving to southwest Missouri, Paula was a Hotel Maid and most recently she worked for McDonald’s well into her 80s. She was a member of McDowell Community Church and had a great talent as a Seamstress. She offered her sewing abilities to her family quite often, making numerous quilts and other prized keepsakes.

On May 15, 1948, in Paul’s Valley, OK, Paula Jean Willoughby was united in marriage to Allen Goodman Hightower. They shared over sixty-two wonderful years together until his passing on April 22, 2011.

Paula is survived by her children, Phillip Hightower and wife Joanie, of Sunray, TX and Dennis “Moe” Hightower and wife Rita, of Verona, Rhonda Cardenas and husband Narce, of Clayton, NM and Alana Wachsman and husband Quinn, of Ozark, MO; thirteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and eleven great-great-grandchildren.

Paula was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Paul Weldon Hightower; one grandson, Matthew Hightower; and five sisters.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 12, 2019, at Calton Cemetery, southeast of Monett. Pastor Bryan Ozbun will be officiating. Friends may call upon the funeral home from noon until 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to McDowell Community Church in care of the funeral home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home, 301 Euclid Ave, Monett, MO.
