Columbus, Kansas: Patricia Kay Richardson, aged 83, passed away from this life unexpectedly to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, October 25, 2020, 10:30 a.m., in the comfort of her home in Columbus, Kansas.

Mrs. Richardson was born February 4, 1937, in San Francisco, CA. Her parents were John Carey Holt Wright and Ruth Ann Gilbreth from San Francisco, CA. She grew up in San Francisco, CA and graduated from Commerce High School in San Francisco with the class of 1955. She belonged to the swim team named the Dolpinettes. Patricia enjoyed working at an ice cream parlor and photo lab until receiving her nursing degree. She became a Licensed Vocational Nurse at age 19 working as an LVN for 40 years 1957-1997. She was also co-owner of Richardson’s Small Engine Repair with her husband for 25 years and worked with her husband as a bookkeeper 1997-2008, in Columbus, Kansas.

Patricia was a kind-hearted, loving, generous, hard working woman with a beautiful smile and laughter that filled the room. Patricia enjoyed life with a fun personality and a great sense of humor. Her husband, Albert Richardson, would say there is no one as amazing as Patricia! Her children, grandchildren, and great children would describe her as an incredibly loving person.

Patricia enjoyed many activities that included skating, swimming, cooking, shopping, gardening, reading, raising birds, music, movies, and loving Jesus. Patricia loved her family and enjoyed hosting parties for all to join during holidays and celebrations creating many memories for all of us to treasure. She was the one you could count on as the pillar and the strength of the family.

Patricia met Albert Eugene Richardson, the love of her life, from Columbus, Kansas in 1967 and married on September 30, 1967. Patricia and Albert were introduced by her Father, Jack Wright, and met in Bellflower at the dance hall. They fell in love instantly and married within 6 months since they were a match made in heaven. Patricia had a heart full of love and much more to share. They just shared their 53rd wedding anniversary on September 30, 2020.

After many years, she is happily retired living in Columbus, Kansas with her husband Albert Richardson while enjoying her family. She leaves her cherished memories with additional survivors, her sons, Steven R. Arriaga, Cebu City, Philippines (wife, Dayen), Danny R. Arriaga, Red Bluff, CA (wife, Leslie), Bert E. Richardson, Columbus, Kansas (wife, Cinda), Scott N. Richardson, Basehor, Kansas (wife, Kathy), Michael V. Richardson, Lake Wales, Florida (wife, Theresa). Her two daughters, Carolyn Parsons, Fountain Valley, California, Cynthia Richardson-Tanner, Columbus, Kansas. Patricia enjoyed all her 22 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Patricia is survived by her sister Paula Burnette of Florence, Oregon and her husband Dave Hansen.

The family will receive friends for the viewing in the chapel and the chapel service is from 1:00 p.m.– 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 4, 2020, at Derfelt Funeral Home, 132 E Pine, Columbus, Kansas. The service is from 2:00-3:00 p.m., located in the chapel. Pallbearers will be Nicholas Parsons, Justin Parsons, Robert Moeckel, and Austin Richardson. Honorary pallbearer will be A.J.Richardson.

Graveside service will follow the chapel service, Wednesday, November 4, 2020, at the Pavilion located at Columbus City Cemetery, Columbus, Kansas. Tom Heflin will officiate.

After services please join us for a Celebration of Life reception located at the family home of Albert and Patricia Richardson 1201 E. Oak St., Columbus, Kansas 66725.
