Passing of Murl Robison, local WWII veteran, honored with flyover

COLUMBUS, Kan. – WWII vintage planes fly over Columbus, Kansas to honor Murl Robison, a veteran who passed away last week at the age of 106.

“He proudly served in the U.S. Army from June 20, 1941 – Dec. 17, 1945. He served in the Pacific Theatre and fought at the battle of Leyte in the Philippines until the Liberation of the Philippines. He served under General MacArthur in the Philippines. Then he was one of the first soldiers to enter the bomb site of Nagasaki, Japan to help with the occupation.

He was awarded the WWII Victory Medal, the Philippines Liberation Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal and Honorable Service.”
