OTTAWA CO., OK — The Ottawa County Sheriff says residents might not be safe unless budget funding issues are resolved.
Sheriff Jeremy Floyd said on Facebook Monday (12/30) that he was told he would need to lay off all of his deputies due to ongoing budget issues.
The Sheriff said on Facebook that his office wouldn’t be able to perform it’s normal duties.
The Sheriff said “With our call volume it will be very unsafe. It’s your tax money, you’re the people, until legal action can take place, you are the voice. I would learn to protect yourself”.
The County Commission recently voted to make the Sheriff financially responsible for any budget overages.
