Ottawa County jail evacuated after fire

Inmates relocated to other facilties

Inmates from the Ottawa county jail boarded a charter bus as they were evacuated and relocated to other facilities. Fire broke out at the jail Saturday.

Fire crews put out the fire that started around noon in the kitchen area and was deemed an electrical fire. The fire was found in the ceiling.

Most of the inmates were taken to the Tulsa county jail. Some were released on their on recognizance. 120 inmates were evacuated and will be held there until repairs are made and the facility is deemed safe for occupancy.
