Oklahoma School District closes after homicide occurs on school grounds
STROTHER, Okla. – Classes were canceled for Strother, Oklahoma Students after a fight between a school maintenance worker and his wife turned deadly in their home, which officials say is on school grounds.
News on 6 says Douglas Switch Jr. is accused of killing Kim Switch after an argument spiraled out of control their home on Sunday, October 23.
Though the shooting occured on school grounds, the district informed parents that the incident was not a school shooting directed at students.
Chief Coker said just before 11 p.m. Sunday, the Switch’s were arguing on the front porch where Douglas killed his wife, according to News on 6.
Officers at the scene indicate that two of the subject’s children and one of their friends were present at the home at the time of the shooting.
News on 6 says the district did not indicate when the school would reopen.
