Oklahoma QB Murray Signs Pro Baseball Deal
Oklahoma Sooners quarterback Kyler Murray is going to make nearly the same amount of money as his head coach this season.
Murray has signed a pro baseball contract with the Oakland Athletics after the team selected him ninth overall in the Major League Baseball draft back in June. His contract will pay him $4.66 million, while his head coach, Lincoln Riley, is scheduled to make $4.8 million in 2018. Murray will still play his junior season at Oklahoma, and decide his future plans after the season.
The 21 year old junior is in a battle for the starting quarterback spot at Oklahoma this season. He was also a member of the OU baseball team last year, batting .296 with 10 home runs and 10 stolen bases. Because of his professional contract, Murray is ineligible to rejoin the Sooners baseball program.
