Oklahoma bill would limit birth certificates to male, female designation
OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – A Senate bill allowing only male or female designations on an Oklahoma birth certificate advances.
A committee passed the bill with a 7 to 3 vote. It now moves to the Senate floor.
Senate Bill 1100 would ban the option of a “non-binary” or “x” designation.
Beginning on the effective date of this act, the sex or gender designation on a certificate of birth issued under this section shall be either male or female and shall not be nonbinary or any symbol representing a nonbinary designation including but not limited to the letter “X”. – Senate Bill 1100
