Officials urge drivers to use caution on icy roads and bridges

CARL JUNCTION, Mo. – Dozens of car accidents took place Saturday night as drivers battled thick fog and slick patches of ice.

Highway 171 even closed temporarily while authorities dealt with a multi-vehicle crash at Center Creek bridge.

Since winter isn’t over, authorities are reminding drivers to exercise extra caution on icy roads.

Remember that bridges are the first to freeze over and the last to thaw.

Drive slow and apply your brakes gently.

You should also give yourself plenty of stopping room.
