Officials confirm there was a funnel cloud in Cherokee County
CHEROKEE COUNTY, Kan. — Update: The National Weather Service out of Springfield confirms there was a funnel cloud in Cherokee County, Kansas Monday night. However, they could not confirm that it was a tornado, because there was no proof it touched down.
The Cherokee County Emergency Manager and a member of the National Weather Service went out to survey the area. They could find no evidence of tornadic damage, according to the NWS.
Storm chaser Von Castor with News on 6 out of Tulsa caught a possible tornado on video. He was in Cherokee County, Kansas around 8:00 pm Monday night. The video was taken near West Mineral.
The tornado has not been confirmed yet by the National Weather Service.
