Officer involved shooting in Woodson County under investigation
WOODSON COUNTY, Kan. – The KBI is investigating an officer involved shooting Thursday afternoon at the Neosho Falls campground.
According to the Kansas Bureau of Investigations it happened around 3:15 p.m. Two deputies with the Woodson County Sheriff’s Office were investigating a stolen vehicle. While questioning subjects, an altercation broke out between the officers and 41-year-old Edward Bridges of Chanute, Kansas. It ended with both deputies opening fire on Bridges. Police say he was armed.
Bridges was taken to the hospital where he was last reported in stable condition. No law enforcement officers suffered injuries in the incident.
KBI will conduct an independent investigation into the shooting.
