NFL QB Ben Roethlisberger awards a grant to the Cherokee Co. Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit
CHEROKEE CO., Kan. — Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, through the Ben Roethlisberger Foundation at the Giving Back Fund, is distributing 15 grants to police and fire K9 programs.
One of those is the Cherokee County, Kansas Sheriff’s Office.
In total the foundation is providing more than $90,000 in grants this year, which can be used to establish new K9 units, replace retiring dogs, buy safety equipment, and pay for training.
Cherokee County Sheriff David Groves says his office is excited and honored to receive the grant, and that the K9 unit will be better enabled to keep the community safe.
