Wyandotte Schools out because of storm damage

Water and roof damage at school

WYANDOTTE, Okla. - Wyandotte schools superintendent Troy Gray says at the Elementary school, water came in under the doors and caused damage in several class rooms.

In the Pre-K area, wind ripped part of the roof off, causing water damage to the ceiling and pooled water on the floor.

In the band building, wind moved the h--vac system on the roof, causing a hoel where rain could get in.. and cause more water damage.

"It's a mess but we are fortunate, it could be a lot worse," Gray explains. "Everything here at the school is for sure fixable. It's just going to take time."

School was out on Tuesday, and Gray says he's not sure when school will be back -- but they are working as fast as they can to get everything fixed.

Gray says, "I'm not gonna go and say we're gonna be out for multiple days because we're scrambling really hard to try and get back in school for our kids and give some normalcy. But yeah, it'll be a day to day decision and then we'll continue to notify our patrons through our one call system."

School was out on Tuesday in Grove as well, but they will resume on Wednesday.

School for Turkey Ford Elementary School was canceled for Tuesday as well.
