Wrong-way driver hits two vehicles before fatal head on collision

Double fatality on Will Rogers Turnpike

OTTAWA CO., Ok - Two people are dead after a wrong-way crash in Ottawa County just after midnight Sunday morning.

46 year old Christopher Bowen of Miami was driving a Chevy Silverado going west in the Eastbound Lane of the interstate. He hit two other vehicles before hitting a third head-on.  Bowen died from massive injuries in the crash on the Will Rogers turnpike near mile marker 322 eastbound about 9 miles east of Miami. 

The last vehicle he hit  was completely burned in the crash. It was driven by 32 year old Waylon Humphrey of Rolla, Missouri. He was pronounced dead at the scene from massive injuries. 

The turnpike was closed from the time of the crash around 12:50 am until about 5:30 am. 

The Oklahoma highway patrol said the crash is under investigation. Quapaw Nation Fire and EMS, along with Miami EMS assisted several turnpike detachments in working the crash.
