  • MARGARET BARNDIGE SENTENCED TO 18 MONTHS PROBATION

A Frontenac, Kansas woman is sentenced to probation after using her pharmacy license to unlawfully gain prescription medications. Pittsburg police arrested Margaret Barnidge in October 2018 for felony identity theft, felony identity fraud and misdemeanor unlawfully obtaining a prescription-only drug. Barnidge will be on probation for 18 months.

  • CLOSE THE CAMPS PROTEST

People in the four-states join others nationwide to protest the immigration camps. The protest in southeast Kansas yesterday took place outside of Senator Jerry Moran's Pittsburg office. They're protesting the conditions at detention centers at the U.S.-Mexico border. They're asking the U.S. senator, and his colleagues to close those centers down. 

  • DIAMOND TICEKT LAWSUIT

Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt has settled a lawsuit against Diamond, Missouri alleging the city used traffic ticket quotas to generate revenue. The settlement agreement also requires training for top city officials in compliance with Missouri laws against traffic quotas. According to court records, Diamond's police chief allegedly wrote on a white board the city was $5,000 behind. The note also instructed officers to write tickets "now."

  • KANSAS MOTORISTS CAN REFUSE FIELD SOBRIETY TESTS

A new law went into effect in Kansas that affects drivers and their options concerning field sobriety tests. Kansas drivers can now refuse to take a field sobriety test, and will not be charged with a crime. Motorists can still be charged with a DUI in Kansas after refusing the test, if officers can prove they're under the influence by other means. Refusing the test means a license will be automatically suspended.
