McDonald County starts housing Green County inmates

Housing 10 inmates a day in new jail

Mac County Jail Settlement

MCDONALD COUNTY, Mo. - The McDonald County Sheriff's Office has started housing inmates from Green County, Mo.

Sheriff Mike Hall explains the jail is currently holding 10 Green County inmates at around 40 dollars a day per inmate.

That brings their numbers to above 40 imates a day, what they held before the new jail was finished.

The jail does have a 64 inmate capacity, but Hall says he doesn't have enough jail staff to house that many inmates.

Hall: "Right now, we don't the manpower, or the budget to increase jailers to full capacity. So, we're not being overcouded right now, and we're actually making a little bit of money to hopefully add jailers and do different things later on in the year."

Hall says right now, they won't accept any more than 10 inmates from Green County at a time.
