Manhunt in Seneca; Subject in custody, Chief James Altic says

SENECA, Mo. — Seneca Police Chief James Altic tells KOAM’s Shannon Becker the male who fled into a wooded area is in custody.Â
They took him into custody shortly after 5 p.m. without incident. There were no injuries.Â
It began as a Felony Car Stop, the male fled from authorities. As it approached Seneca, officers were ready with spikes near the Seneca Sports Complex north of Eagle Picher on Bethel Road. Spikes were successful.
After the car stopped near Eagle Picher on Bethel Road the male exited and fled on foot into a wooded area.Â
Missouri State Highway Patrol, Newton County Sheriff’s Deputies, Seneca Police and other assisting agencies were involved.
Shannon Becker was born and raised in Joplin and began in radio before graduating from Joplin Senior High in 1990. He holds a bachelor’s degree in mass communications from Missouri Southern State University (1994). Before launching Joplin News First in 2017, he worked in television and radio, overlapping a career in the music industry. He worked with major music artists for 20 years, garnering gold and platinum records to his credit. He comes to KOAM 7 News Now-CBS/FOX (Morgan-Murphy Media) with more than 30 years in media and entertainment. He previously worked for KOAM. He has five children and two grandchildren.
