NEWTON COUNTY, Kan. - A shooting in Newton County leaves one person dead, another injured and a suspect in custody.  When deputies responded to the call at around 11:30am yesterday morning, they found a 32-year old woman dead from a gunshot wound.  Newton County Sheriff Chris Jennings believes a confrontation started after an argument over a custody issue.  A second person, 35-year old Chris Lamb, lives at the residence and was also shot.  Officials have also taken a 58-year old male suspect into custody.

LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas - An Arkansas woman has been charged with capital murder of former State Senator Linda Collins.  Rebecca O'Donnell was also charged with abuse of a corpse and tampering with physical evidence.  O'Donnell was close friends with the victim according to the family's spokesperson.  The suspect will not be released on bail and police say they won't be releasing any further information because the investigation is ongoing.

SAINT LOUIS, Mo. - A Saint Louis judge rules Missouri's Republican-led legislature cannot cut off funding to abortion providers and their affiliates.  Planned Parenthood sued in February against efforts by Missouri lawmakers to block state funding from going to planned parenthood.  The judge ruled that the funding prohibition could not be completely enforced saying the move was constitutionally flawed.  Republican Governor Mike Parson says the ruling will be appealed.

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - A bill that re-defines "crematory" could make Missouri the first state to allow state-wide outdoor cremations.  The bill dubbed the "Jedi Disposal Act,"  would allow funeral directors to organize outdoor cremations at licensed crematoriums or private sites with permits.  The bill passed with nearly unanimous support and is awaiting governor Parson's signature.
