News to Know 5-14

PRYOR, Okla. - Two bodies were found in a Pryor, Oklahoma home that burned Sunday.  Authorities say the fire began around 5:40 am Sunday at a home  in the 300 block of North Elliott.  The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation has been called in to help with the case.  The two bodies inside the home have not yet been identified.  


JOPLIN, Mo. - A second man has been sentenced for a Joplin home invasion that resulted in a murder.  Brock Robinson was sentenced to 15 years for second degree murder.  He was also sentenced to 15 years for first degree robbery and 15 years for first degree assault.  The three sentences will be served at the same time.


MIAMI, Okla. - A school bond proposal goes before Miami, Oklahoma voters today.  The proposal calls for new storm shelters and additions to the high school and upper elementary to merge the students at Will Rogers Middle School and for new school buses.  The district says the Will Rogers Middle School has structural problems and problems with ADA compliance.  The bond would total 19.1 million dollars and would mean a property tax increase for residents.


Joplin, Mo. - The Joplin Chamber of Commerce begins the first in a series of discussions focused on minorities in business.  This is just the start of the conversation officials hope to continue over the next few months.  This first meeting focused on race and inclusion looking for ways to bring a more diverse crowd to Joplin.  Business owners shared concerns and ideas to encourage ethnicity and acceptance.
