Special Olympics Torch Run Kicks Off In Joplin Metro Area

JOPLIN METRO AREA — Every year in May the Law Enforcement Torch Run is coordinated as the Special Olympics Flame travels around the state of Missouri leading to the Summer Games.
The 2023 Missouri State Summer Games will take place in Columbia, Mo. June 2 — 4, 2023.
“The mission of the Law Enforcement Torch Run® (LETR) is to raise awareness and funds for the Special Olympics movement.”

Joplin Police hand the Special Olympics Torch to Webb City Police and Athletes.
JOPLIN-WEBB CITY-JASPER CO.-CARTHAGE
The torch begins the morning at Joplin Police South Station near 32nd and Indiana. They will travel to meet the Webb City Police Dept at 1899 S Madison.
“We will receive the torch from officers with the Joplin Police Department at about 9a on the NAPA parking lot.”

- S on Main to King Jack Park
Webb City Police will hand off the torch at the Kneeling Miner statue to Jasper County Sheriff's Deputies.
Deputies of Jasper County then run the torch 9 miles east to Carthage on Central Ave at King Cash $aver where Carthage Police will carry it to the high school on South River Ave.
Watch for Special Olympics Athletes and LEO carrying the torch across the area Tuesday, May 23, 2023.
