Husband and wife hospitalized after possibly shooting each other

JOPLIN, Mo. - Investigators are still working to determine if a husband and wife shot each other, landing them both in a Joplin hospital.

On April 14th, 2019, around 6:00 pm, Jasper County Sheriff's Deputies were called to Freeman Hospital about two patients, a husband and wife, both suffering from a gunshot wound.

Deputies spoke to the couple, both 62-years-old, and believe that they each suffered mutual gunshot wounds from a domestic violence altercation that happened on W. Emerald in Joplin.

Authorities say after the incident, the couple drove to the hospital for treatment.

The man was wounded in the abdomen area and the woman was wounded in her leg. Both from single gun shot wounds.

The Sheriff's Office says neither wound is considered life-threatening.

The investigation is ongoing.
