Horse found dismembered in Kansas City was a family pet

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A horse whose dismembered remains were found in a Kansas City park was a family pet and was pregnant.

Miguel Valdez told KCTV5 that losing the horse, named Senaida, was like losing someone in your family.

The horse was at a friend's farm in Kansas City, Kansas when it went missing. The family thought Senaida might have wandered to a nearby park when she went missing.

On April 1st, a man playing disc golf found the animal's remains in Kessler Park in neighboring Kansas City, Missouri. Police say the horse appeared to have been prepared for consumption. According to the Associated Press, after the meat was removed, the carcass was placed in a barrel and dumped in the park.
