FEMA to set up in Carl Junction for 3 days to help area residents

August 5 - 7

CARL JUNCTION, Mo. - A FEMA disaster recovery center will open for three days in Jasper County starting Monday, August 5, to provide one-on-one assistance to Missourians affected by recent flooding, severe storms and tornadoes.

Recovery specialists from the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the U.S. Small Business Administration will provide information on available services, explain assistance programs and help survivors complete or check the status of their applications.

The disaster recovery center location is:
Carl Junction Community Center
303 N. Main Street
Carl Junction, MO 64834
Open: Aug. 5, Aug. 6 and Aug. 7
Hours: 8 a.m. – 7 p.m.

"We encourage everyone that suffered damage to go ahead and apply even if they have insurance because if the insurance does not meet all those needs, we can check then to see if FEMA would. We can not duplicate services, but if they have un met needs, if they are under insured, then it is good to check with FEMA to see." said FEMA Media Relations Specialist, Hattie Stallworth.

Missourians from any county may visit any recovery center. Before visiting a recovery center, residents are asked to register online at DisasterAssistance.gov or call 800-621-FEMA (3362).
